This section of our web page is dedicated to current activities of the race team.

2006 - 2008

The boat was nearly destroyed in 2006 in Waterford, Michigan.  Sho nuff was restored by expert boat builder John Jenkins.

2009

John Jenkins completed repairs to Sho nuff and she returned to competition in 2009.  The boat ran a few races in the Mid West as a focused season of Three Quarter Midget car racing prevented further participation.  A few double duty weekends occurred where racing of the car and boat happened on the same weekend.

2010

Hydroplane Racing in New Zealand

John will compete in hydroplane races near Auckland, New Zealand on February 6 & 7, 2010 by invitation of the New Zealand Power Boat Association.  The World Championship event is sanctioned by the Union of International Motorboating, Belgium.

Also in February, John will travel from New Zealand to Sydney, Australia.  Discussions are ongoing to schedule race participation in Australia.  The return home will include non-racing related stops in Bangkok, Paris, and London.

After his scheduled International competition and several decades of grueling competition, John will be taking the remainder of the year off from racing to pursue a number of other near term and long term goals.

TQ Midget Car Racing

In 2010, John Shewbrooks Racing will continue to field a three quarter midget race car in United Midget Racing Association competition.  The car will race out of the shop of Fred Steed in Milroy, Indiana.  Fred will provide all maintenance and race team management in John’s absence.  Jonathon Steed is scheduled to drive the car as a UMRA Rookie of the Year contender.

Inboard Hydroplanes

There are no specific plans for John’s 2.5 litre class Inboard Hydroplane to compete in American Power Boat Association competition in 2010.

Beyond 2010

A venture into Winged Sprint Car competition is being evaluated.
